Thank You!

We wanted to extend our biggest ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who was involved in the Girl Rising event! Around 250 people came to support the cause and view the documentary; which was over double the amount we needed to match our goal! Thanks to those in attendance as well as those who helped promote the film. We had such a great turn-out, the theater had to move us into their largest room!

The film was extremely touching and opened our eyes to different issues facing girls around the world. The stories were engaging and gave us a sense of hope for the future.

Austin’s 8th Annual Community Feast

On Thursday, November 15^th citizens of Austin will come together for Thanksgiving dinner at its 8^th annual community feast.  The event is free to the public but financial gifts can be made. Bring your family and friends and celebrate with the Austin community all you have to be thankful for this holiday season. The feast will be held at Givens Recreations Center from 6:00pm- 8:30pm.

LEGO KidsFest is Coming to Austin

This weekend, bring your kids to experience the creative, hand-on fun of LEGO building and activities. Held at the Austin Convention Center, children of all ages are welcome and so are builders of all skills and interests. Sure to be fun for the entire family, LEGO KidsFest will span over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and will offer various activities and entertainment.  A tentative schedule is as follows:

Friday, August 31
4 pm - 8:30 pm

Saturday, September 1
Session I: 9 am – 1:30 pm
Session II: 3 pm – 7:30 pm

Sunday, September 2
Session I: 9 am – 1:30 pm
Session II: 3 pm – 7:30 pm

Free Summer Movie Series at Alamo Drafthouse

Looking for something fun do with the kids during summer break? Alamo Drafthouse is now offering their annual Alamo Kids’ Camp Series with screenings of popular movies. All Alamo Kids’ Camp Series screenings are free and there are several opportunities to go this summer. Screenings include How to Train your Dragon, Coraline, Corpse Bride, Rango and more! The screenings are usually mid to late morning.

2012 ACL

ACL Announces 2012 Line-up Austin City Limits (ACL) has announced the 2012 line-up of artists performing at the festival. Performers include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Florence + The Machine, Jack White, The Black Keys, The Avett Brothers,and many more! ACL is one of Austin’s largest music festivals spanning over 3 days featuring over 130 artists and 70,000 fans per day! This year’s festival will take place October 12th-14th at Zilker Park.
