Conquer the Oral Hygiene Aisle
We’ve all been there, standing in the dental care aisle overwhelmed by the selection of items when you
ask yourself, ‘Which one should I choose?!’ From manual to electric toothbrushes to special floss and
even whitening trays, it’s easy to get lost on the ‘hype’ of a product rather than its actual effectiveness.
Everyone is different, so it’s difficult to just say this product is the best. Most importantly, you need to
find what works best for you, which may begin with a few mistakes, but will eventually be extremely
beneficial to you and your family.
When shopping keep three things in mind:
Soft bristle toothbrush: Hard ones can slowly wear away your enamel
Fluoride toothpaste: Will help control tooth decay (Fluoride soaks in and strengthens teeth)
Floss, Floss, FLOSS!: Flossing gets between the teeth and gets what your toothbrush can’t! The choice of floss is yours-scented, unscented, waxed or not, the job is still the same.
So the next time you go the grocery store, don’t panic! You can conquer the Oral Hygiene Aisle.
If you have more questions about dental products, toothbrushes, floss, or your overall dental care, feel free to contact our Downtown Austin Tx Dental Office or our Lakeway Tx Dental Office. We offer a full range of dental services from general dental care to cosmetic dentistry and more!

Flossing- the Triumphant Underdog
Everyone has heard that you should floss your teeth at least twice a day, but do you really know why?
Flossing has key dental health benefits including cavity and plaque prevention, but it also has an impact
on your overall health. Flossing regularly is closely linked with preventing heart attacks, strokes, and
other cardiovascular disease conditions. The reason for this connection is the plaque build-up in the
mouth causes problems in the bloodstream, which may cause inflammation in the arteries, which then
increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Flossing is one of the key areas of oral health that can be easily overlooked. Brushing and using mouth
wash alone will not get the job done. So if you’re thinking about skipping flossing today, think twice. The
extra couple of minutes it takes to floss can be a key to your overall health!
Key benefits of flossing include:Getting rid of plaque
Preventing Gum Disease
Preventing Cavities
Preventing Cardiovascular disease
Better smelling breath
Whiter Teeth
